Preliminary report to the government…

The factories department has submitted a preliminary report to the government on the accident at a pharma company in Achuthapuram. It was found that there was no explosion in the reactor at the pharma company and that the accident occurred due to a solvent leak. Chandrasekhara Varma, director of the factories department, reported to the government in this regard.

The pharma company claimed that the methyl tert-butyl ether alloy, manufactured in reactors, leaked when it was being converted into a storage tank. The solvent leakage occurred while the chemical was being supplied to the tank through a PD lab from the reactor in the production block. The mixture underwent chemical reactions in the outer atmosphere and turned into steam.

The explosion occurred due to mixing with other gases in the atmosphere, causing a massive explosion in the factory, he said. Suspicions are being raised about the malfunctioning of alarms that detect solvent leaks. The factory should have systems where immediate warnings are received in case of a leak in the process of supply from the reactor to the tank. State-of-the-art safety systems that detect changes in the factory environment are currently available. They are investigating why gases in the form of steam have not been detected even if they have spread throughout the factory.

Has the Pollution Control Board violated the rules? Monitors whether everything is in order. Pawan Kalyan enquired who was responsible for the failure of the accident. Essential Advanced Science Pvt. Ltd. The chemical factory, which is operating in the name of Limited, has two owners. Officials said differences of opinion between the two owners continue.

Officials said the fire broke out while the reactor exploded while trying to pump the solvent oil from one floor to another.

Though the deputy chief minister expressed his willingness to personally visit the accident site and visit the injured, the plan was temporarily dropped on the suggestion of the authorities that the rescue efforts would be hampered. The deputy chief minister was accompanied by district collector, principal secretary of industries department and pollution control board officials.

Instructions have been given to the officials on the importance of safety audit as such incidents are frequently occurring in the same area. If there is any negligence in implementation, strict action should be taken.
